You might have heard the phrase ‘clean break’ bandied about. In the divorce context, a clean break means an end to financial ties between spouses. There are two different types of clean break: immediate (taking effect as soon as the divorce is final) and deferred (delayed for a time, usually while required payments are made from one ex to the other).
